چکیده

We have observed for the first time conductivity fluctuations in the persistent photoconductivity mode in II-VI mixed crystals with the magnitude following the percolation approach as ~ T — T, ~ s, where T, is the percolation threshold temperature. Experimental results have demonstrated that the random local-potential fluctuations induced by compositional fluctuations are responsible for the persistent pho-toconductivity observed in II-VI mixed crystals. Different behaviors resulting from the DX centers, the macroscopic barrier, and the random local-potential fluctuations are distinguished. There has been a considerable amount of experimental and theoretical effort directed towards the understanding of persistent photoconductivity

Band-tail states in a Zn0.3Cd0.7Se semiconductor alloy probed by persistent photoconductivity.

The distribution of the conduction-band tail states in a Zn03Cd07Se II-VI semiconductor alloy has been determined experimentally using persistent photoconductivity (PPC) transient measurements, and is confirmed to be exponential. Our results show that the transport properties in II-VI semiconductor alloys are strongly influenced by tail states caused by alloy disorder. A class of transport prop...

Persistent X-ray photoconductivity and percolation of metallic clusters in charge-ordered manganites

– Charge-ordered manganites of composition Pr1−x(Ca1−ySry)xMnO3 exhibit persistent photoconductivity upon exposure to X-rays. This is not always accompanied by a significant increase in the number of conduction electrons as predicted by conventional models of persistent photoconductivity. An analysis of the X-ray diffraction patterns and current-voltage characteristics shows that X-ray illumina...

Extrinsic Origin of Persistent Photoconductivity in Monolayer MoS2 Field Effect Transistors

Recent discoveries of the photoresponse of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) have shown the considerable potential of these two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides for optoelectronic applications. Among the various types of photoresponses of MoS2, persistent photoconductivity (PPC) at different levels has been reported. However, a detailed study of the PPC effect and its mechanism in MoS2 is...

Persistent photoconductivity in strontium titanate.

Persistent photoconductivity was observed in strontium titanate (SrTiO(3)) single crystals. When exposed to sub-bandgap light (2.9 eV or higher) at room temperature, the free-electron concentration increases by over 2 orders of magnitude. After the light is turned off, the enhanced conductivity persists for several days, with negligible decay. From positron lifetime measurements, the persistent...

Diluted random fields in Mixed cyanide crystals

A percolation argument and a dilute compressible random field Ising model are used to present a simple model for mixed cyanide crystals. The model reproduces quantitatively several features of the phase diagrams altough some crude approximations are made. In particular critical thresholds xc at which ferroelastic first order transitions disappear, are calculated. Moreover, transitions are found...
